Thought about WW

Everyone who keeps up with me on here knows I don't follow a "weight loss plan" but for the past few weeks I've been losing and gaining the same few pounds and not really progressing toward my goal weight and it's made me consider a WW approach. For whatever reasons, I haven't been able to recapture the same drive and motivation in 2011 that I had when I kicked off this blog on New Years Day 2010. I think this is partially because I have managed to consistently keep off 15 of the lbs I intially lost, and my subconscious is saying "oh well, close enough, you still fit into a lot of the smaller sized clothes you bought after losing 25 lb." But I sure don't fit into them as well as I did before. I've been thinking that maybe the discipline of points tracking for a few months would get me going in the right direction again. In reality, WW isn't much different from what I did when I lost all the weight last year, as it's a very "common sense" based approach.

I have no intention of following WW or any "plan" for the long haul because I defintiely don't want to be counting calories, fats, fibers etc for the rest of my life, but for the short term you may hear me quoting points and bonus points to see if I can can start making some progress.

  1. i did WW in 1997 and it was the original classic program which was brilliant. then they introduced points and i lost it - it is way too flexible. i was eating a mars bar for breakfast because it fitted into my points! i gained weight for 3 weeks straight even though i came in under points. it has taken me a while to recognise there are just foods i need to eat less of, no matter what!

    and my WW leader said to me, you need to forget about food and any relationship you have with it, it's there for fuel only and the sooner you realise that, the slimmer you'll be.

    i don't know about you but I LOVE food, not junk food, good food and to be told that i'd not be able to love food, well it kind of put me off WW for life!!!

    good luck though, more often than not, it isn't the program but the mindset and if you're not in the right headspace, doesn't matter what you do... or is that just me????

  2. thanks for your response - mojo is all we need when it comes down to it... although I tend to lose easily, maintaining is a whole nother story!!!

  3. Sometimes all you need is a little structure to set you right again. It doesn't have to be forever for you, just until you get your sense of portion sizes back.
