Just a quick entry tonight before New Years Day is over.
The wife prepared all the classic good luck New Years Day foods (fatback bacon, greens, and of course blackeyed peas) ate we had them for lunch and dinner for double luck in 2011. I wish the same good luck to all my blogger friends past, present, and future, as well as all those people out there who are just starting their weight loss blog today.
Good night all and hope you had a wonderful time ringing in 2011!
Hi Matt,
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog and commenting. Tammy is one great gal, so I totally admire your excellent taste in friends!
Your New Year's meal sounded blessedly reminiscent of my southern past - I lived in Atlanta for a long time and we always had pork, greens and black eyed peas for NYD. These Pennsylvania people think that's pretty weird.
I'll be following to see how 2011 pans out for weight loss for you. I'm hoping for a good productive year for all of us. BTW, your starting weight of 192 was my lowest weight of this journey (down from 223). I've dug myself back down the hole a bit, but today is a new day.
Good luck to you too. A bit of luck and a lot of hard work...we'll get there.
ReplyDeleteThanks for being "there" for me.

I didn't know those foods were good luck. Learn something new every day. Found you over at Anne's Blog. How tangled up are we? Good luck with your weight loss goals.
ReplyDeleteOooooo love me some black-eyed peas and rice...I used to live next door to my great grandma and grandpa and would always go over to eat when she was having that....she knew I loved it and would always invite me for dinner on that night. I thought it was a "special" meal because they loved me and invited me....it wasn't until YEARS later that I realized she was still cooking the way she did during the Great Depression, lmao...so black-eyed peas & rice will always have a special place in my heart.
ReplyDeleteP.S. She also still saved all of her plastic loaf bread bags and plastic butter bowls. :) I miss them.
