Thoughts for Today
My recent few posts have largely been griping and whining about not losing weight as quickly as I would like, but I'm officially off of that soapbox for a while. As I was typing in the foods I ate today I realized that, yeah I'd like to lose faster, but overall I'm doing what I set out to do: eating the foods I WANT to eat and still managing to very gradually drop weight (or at least not gain very much). Today was a pretty average day in terms of eating and it included bagels, buffalo wings, cream cheese, ice cream, malted milk balls, corn chips, and even a friggin Girl Scout Cookie. It sure doesn't look like any "diet" I've ever seen but it works for me. Granted, the portions were nothing compared to what I would have eaten in the past and I'm hitting 10,000 pedometer steps most days, but the point is I'm still eating food I love and I haven't denied myself anything that I really wanted since January 1. And this morning's scale even finally showed a loss of a pound! Who knows what tomorrow's reading will show, but whatever it is, I'm just gonna keep on plugging away.
Exercise
10 minutes running on the Wii Fit, will at least get close to 10,000 pedometer steps today.
Breakfast
A banana and a Bagel Thin with a little Parkay Spray. A Bagel Thin looks like a bagel that has been steamrolled. 2 cups of black coffee.
Lunch
Met my wife and youngest daughter at Alpine Bagel. The wife and I split a Pole Vault, which is this great bagel sandwich piled with turkey, sprouts, lettuce, and a little bit of cream cheese. Also had a small bag of jalapeno chips.
Dinner
The wife has found a recipe for baked Buffalo wings which are really pretty good. They aren't as good as the Hooters-style (fried) wings she makes, but I had 5 of the baked and could have eaten may more. Also we had a Birds Eye Steamer bag (Baby Peas and Mushrooms), and mashed potatoes (which I seasoned with Mrs. Dash, not salt, thanks Tammy!).
Snacks
A girl scout cookie (Samoan). A Skinny Cow French Vanilla Truffle. A Fuji apple. About 4 malted milk balls (Whoppers) and a few Baked Tostitos.
I get the whole "whinning" blog-thing. I've been doing it for a while, but committed to stop it too! Good company!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the loss! Sometimes you just have to whine, but I am glad you are moving forward!
ReplyDeleteFound your blog via a comment you left on Cactus Freek's blog. I agree with you that we all need our treats every now and again. :o)
ReplyDeleteLook forward to cheering you on to your goal! 14lbs to one person is as important as 100lbs to another. :o)
I do think it's really cool that you're losing while still eating those yummy kinds of foods, simply because you're controlling your portions. I still shake my head in amazement and awe every time I read that you ate only HALF of an Asian dish, lol. I would inhale the whole thing & finish by licking the plate. :)
ReplyDeleteBOOYAH Matt. You keep pushing.
ReplyDeleteBought - From now, I'll be the "whine police" when I check in on your blog!
ReplyDeleteHeather - Thanks, I'll be whine free for at least a little while.
Patsy - Good to have you here, thanks for dropping in! Yeah 14 lbs might not sound like a lot, but I wear virtually all my extra weight in my face and gut and there's definitely still plenty to lose in both places.
"Top 25" Tammy - I didn't think I'd be able to eat just 1/2 either, but once I started it wasn't that bad. Of course having the wife there on most occasions to police me helps too!
Journey - thanks for the props!
