I haven't posted since January because I really didn't lose any weight for the first three months of the year. Drop a few pounds, gain a few, over and over. I was eating reasonably healthy and getting nowhere but frustrated. Finally in April, I started seeing some results and have dropped 11 lb. I think the main difference has been mixing in a just a little bit of metabolism-boosting exercise like running up stairs and a bit of jogging, and being extremely vigilant about letting myself eat what I want...BUT... stopping when my body tells me I'm full.
Hope everyone is doing well, hopefully I'll start appearing a bit more regularly.
Lots to Lose
My "Diet" includes pizza, ribs, fried chicken, and whatever else I want. My "plan" is simply this: Only Eat When Actually Hungry, and Stop Eating When Your Body Knows You Are Full

Metabolism Boost Ideas?
I've seen a little bit of weight loss since starting back up on Jan 1. I've been good about checking the scale every day and not eating til I'm stuffed. Still, I'm not seeing the kind of losses I'd like and I know it's because I've basically not exercised in any way. And I'm just not the type who is inclined to "work out" for 1+ hr a day, even if I did have the time. Doing a lot of walking worked in the past for me and I am going to start that back up, but it does get boring.
With all that in mind, please share any experiences you guys that have worked for you. Looking for quick boosts in metabolism that don't require tons of time commitment. Thanks!

BBQ Birthday Break
This past weekend we took a trip to Memphis to celebrate my birthday, and I decided it best not to weigh myself this morning. We definitely partook in Memphis' best BBQ ribs, brisket, and chicken and it was great! But at least I did have a concept of flipping the OFF switch quite a bit sooner than I would've a week ago and we did do quite a bit of walking around. I figured the 6th rib wasn't gonna taste any better than the 4th or 5th, and actually left some on the table. Don't get me wrong, it was not a healthy weekend by any stretch, but the important things for me are:
(1) I am not "dieting" in the sense of eliminating everything that is "bad" for me, because I don't see that a a realistic long-term solution. I eat what I want and stop when my body tells me I'm full. That's what has worked for me in the past and it will work again.
(2) This weekend was the kind of thing we do maybe 2-3 times a year and in perspective of the big picture it's a blip on the radar.
Back to it tonight with a reasonable portion of wife's homeade spaghetti!

One of Those People
Great to be back again, and awesome to be back in touch with some of my old blogger buds after almost a year away! I know with everyone's support and by plugging away doing the right things, I can have the same success losing weight I originally had in 2010 when I started the blog.
Definitely glad to be here and ready to get back to it full force, but I have to say I'm really annoyed with myself for being in this situation again. I was so sure when I lost all the weight in 2010, that I'd never be "one of those people" that lose bunch of weight only to pile it back on again. I just couldn't understand how someone could let that happen after all the work thehad to put in to get there. Well, now I'm one of those people I used to shake my head at. I don't like it, but I guess I had to admit it to get started on the right path again.
Thanks for listening, folks!

Is Anyone Still Here?
It's been almost a year since my last blog post, wondering if any of my old blogger buds are still out there? Since then, my weight has crept back up to where it was when I started this blog exactly three years ago. I knew better than to bother trying to lose weight during the holidays, choosing instead to ride out the food train to it's final stop on Jan 1.
So today I start out at 191.6 lbs, with the goal of dropping down to the 165-170 lb. range by May2013. That only requires dropping 1.25 lb /week and should be totally do-able.
A Great 2013 to Everyone!

If Nothing Else
If nothing else, I have been getting my exercise once a day by walking up the many flights of stairs my floor of my office building. Also, have started parking pretty far away. Until I start back on the Wii Fit and other more regular exercise, this will have to do. And I'm hoping as the days pass, I'm a little less winded when I finally get up to my floor!

New Pedometer Year Starts Tomorrow
Tommorow starts another new year on the pedometer with a chance to earn $500 if I can make it to Level 5 this time. Last two years I've hit Level 4, which is pretty good but not worth as much $. Level 5 does not require running marathons, it just requires a day in/day out committment to at least taking a reasonable amount (7000 steps) each day. You do that, you pretty much are guaranteed Level 5.
Starting tommorrow, I'd like to rededicate myself to taking the same approach with my weight loss effort, meaning I don't plan to lose the rest of my weight with some crazy cabbage diet or exercise regimen. Eating reasonable amounts of the food I love and and diing at least some kind of activity every day worked before and it will work again.
