Food Watching

I feel silly admitting this, but since I started on Jan 1, I sometimes find myself watching what people sitting at other tables in restaurants eat. Not always, but generally, the thinner people order reasonable healthy dishes or at least they tend to eat the heavier foods in moderation. And the heavier people are piling their buffet plate so high that you'd think they were never going to get another crack at eating again. But today at Five Guys Burgers, I saw this very fit looking woman taking her order back to her table and I figured she'd have a tiny burger or something. Instead it looked like the full sized burger loaded with everything and the big ol' paper bag of fries to boot. I thought to myself, "she'll only eat part of the burger and maybe a few fries," but this chick ate every bite of both. Have you ever seen how many fries come in the bag at Five Guys?!? Maybe she works out like crazy, who knows. I find that I even get a little pissed off when I see this kind of stuff because I know what happens when I eat like that regularly, and I wish I could just eat as much I want all the time too. But the fact is I can't unless I want to start putting on the pounds again, so moderation it is. Ah well, enough of that rant.

It's been a long week with a lot of stuff going on - I'm exhausted and not in the mood to log my food and all - this lack of interest in logging might also have a little to do with the fact I ate lunch at Five Guys Burgers and dinner from KFC but ... in my defense .. neither meal was over the top. However, I realize I shouldn't be eatne stuff like that back to back. As a result of busy week, my exercising has also slacked off. Starting tomorrow morning, I'm back to hitting at least 10,000 steps a day and eating better.

Good night y'all!

  2. I've been to Five Guy's once...once. Not that it wasn't good, but it wasn't as good as it was bragged to be. The place was packed out the door, but was a relatively new location.

I know I've only been as successful at losing weight as I have been by eating MANY fewer restaurant meals and only those that I could get calorie counts from nutritional guides...not that they haven't proven to be inconsistent at best, but that is the way I got most of my weight off.

  3. My mother is 5'2", 115 lbs, and just tiny. That woman can put away food like you wouldn't believe and not gain an ounce. I did not get her genes, clearly. So, don't sweat it. Some people just can metabolize food better than others.

You asked me on my blog about my heart rate monitor. My trainer recommnended mine. It is a Polar FS2C. Basically, you wear a strap around your chest. This is the heart rate monitor, itself. It comes with a watch that will display your heartrate and record your average heartrate and highest heartrate for your workout. I like it because the machines in the gym always give you a crazy number for how many calories you burn and where your heartrate is. This is on the money. And, if the treadmill or elliptical is Polar-compliant, then the machine will display what your heartrate monitor says. Kinda cool.

Best of luck getting back on track. You can do this.

    Cheers,

  4. Oh you must have seen one of those evil little fast metabolism show offs!! I have a friend who eats like that and is as skinny as a rail. I don't know why I'm friends with her! Just kidding. That is frustrating though. I know that I have to less than my 13 year old or I gain weight. It's awful.

Five Guys...I love that place. We ate there last week. By the ways Edy's is safe....I'm recommending not mean ole ED :)

  6. So, how many people would you say that you watched before you found her? She's what 1% of the population? You'd have a better chance of being crazy with me!

Yes, I want that. But I also want perfect vision, long straight hair, and a sustainable living ADA acceptable home. :)

    And butter.

  7. I'm like Kyle...I ate there one time...my roommate said it was the absolute best burger around, so I took the bait. The fries were ridiculousy greasy, and THIS coming from a fat girl, lol....and the burger was....eh, ok. I prefer Fuddrucker's any day of the week. Speaking of Fudd's, have you tried their grilled Ragin' Cajun chicken sandwich with sauteed onions and mushrooms??? I get the regular jack cheese on it instead of the pepperjack....omg Heaven. I wish I wouldn't have remembered how good that is cuz now I want one, lol. Damn sabotage. :)
