Pork Rinds and a Walk in The Park

Thoughts for Today
We took a nice drive to a beautiful park today to take advantage of the first great weather we've had in a long time. It was great to be able to walk around in a t-shirt. Got quite a bit of walking in (12,000+ steps so far) and overall ate decently, even though snacking was a little heavy.

Giving myself a B- for the day, that's as high as I can go on a day that includes pork rinds, cheese popcorn, and Spam! Good night y'all.

Exercise
Lots of walking at the park. Clicked in at over 12,000 pedometer steps.

Breakfast
Bowl of Raisin Bran with skim milk. 2 cups of black coffee.

Lunch
Subway selection from Jared's favorites. Black forest ham on wheat with all the vegetables, vinegar, oil, and spices. BBQ Baked Lays. Diet Coke.

Dinner
Wife's whipped up a batch of Spam Fried Cabbage and Rice, her Mom's great old recipe from her military days in Guam. It's not overly healthy, but I had a reasonable sized portion.
Diet Coke.

Snacks
Wife and I split a 3 Musketeers. Had a few handfuls of cheese popcorn, 4-5 pork rinds, and a bunch of sliced up fruit  (watermelon, honeydew melon, cantalope, grapes). 4-6 malted milkballs (Whoppers). A few handfuls of Kellog's Lowfat granola cereal.

  1. Spam? I've never known anyone who's actually eaten it. Fascinating.

    Great job on your steps!

  2. lol, it's been YEARS since I've eaten spam. I have an aunt who used to slice it up really thin and fry it hard. She could feed like 8 people out of one can, lol. Spam sandwiches for everyone! Glad you enjoyed your walk at the park, and now I totally want a 3 Musketeers bar...thanks Matt! :)

  3. Hey, sounds like you had a good day. On a different note - do you keep track of your sodium intake? I'm sure you know this already but lots of sodium means lots of water retention. Anyways, keep up the good work.

  4. Journey - LOL, I had never eaten Spam befoe I met my wife. When my mother-in-law was stationed in Guam, food (especially meat) was rationed and out of this combination of place and cicrumstance grew an excellent cabbage, rice, Spam flavored with soy, lemon, and peppers.

Tammy - According to my wife, 3 Musketeers is the best candy bar to eat if you have to eat one.

Fog - I never would have agreed with you when I was younger, but I'm with ya!

Seth - I have been trying to cut back on salt cause of that. We used to eat dinners out or get takeout a lot during the week and we have cut way down on that since they use so much salt.
