Back Home

Thoughts for Today
Back home from Knoxville and we had a nice visit with friends, family, and an old haunt or two. I have pretty much used up my energy just logging food eaten from Sat.- Mon, so I'll keep it short tonight. During the 3 days in Knoxville, I had two meals that were clearly unhealthy. Exercise was minimal and I may pay for this at the scale tomorrow morning, but I'm not beating myself up over it. 2 bad meals in the run of things is no big deal. I'm sure I'll be a little pissed if I've gained a few, but just have to get right back at it. Will start catching up with everyone's blogs again tommorrow. Good night y'all and thanks for all the great comments.

Exercise
About 7000 pedometer steps per day on Sat-Sun-Mon  as a result of walking around a lot of giant flea markets.

Breakfast
Sat: A banana. 2 cups of black coffee.

Sun: Egg McMuffin. 2 cup black coffee.

Mon: Nothing but black coffee.

Lunch
Sat: Rose Garden, a nice little cafe right off of I-40 on the way to Knoxville, TN where it seems like the locals go for good simple country cooking. Bowl of pinto beans and onion and a corn bread muffin. Sampled a little bit of wife's mashed potatoes (no gravy) and roast beef.

Sun: Gondolier for Italian food. This wasn't the place I had planned to go, I hadn't ever been there before, but I liked it. Ate a big plate of spaghetti and meatballs, 1/2 a breadstick, and a small piece of pizza with everything. Sampled one bite of my daughter's chocolate cake. 2 big glasses of water.

Mon: On the way home we stopped at Village Restaurant in Oak Ridge, TN at one of our favorite old lunch spots. It's one of those few places where literally nothing has changed in 15+ years, not even the prices. The thing we really used to love there was Coconut Cream Pie, and that sort of set the tone. I ended up with Country Fried Steak, white beans, and mashed potatoes (no gravy), coffee, and of course the Coconut Cream Pie, which was exactly as I remembered it, terrific!

Dinner
Sat: Cracker Barrel for Grilled Chicken Salad with vinegar and oil. Piece of cornbread. Water and coffee.
Sun: Since lunch was so much heavier than I'm used to eating, only had a bowl of Rice Crispies and skim milk.

Mon: Since outrson watched the house and dogs for us over the weekend, we brought him home a pepperoni pizza from our local Italina Deli. I had a big slice of that a a salad with vinegarette dressing.

Snacks
Sat: A banana and a bunch of raw baby carrots.

Sun: 2 apples, about 25 natural almonds, 3-4 small, thin pieces of teriyaki beef jerky.

Mon: About 25 natural almonds, 4-5 malted milkballs (Whoppers). Diet Pepsi.

  1. Just one bit of chocolate cake? That shows great restraint! :o)
