Impossible to Eat Out?

Thoughts for today
Some bloggers I've been corresponding with have talked about how it's almost impossible to eat out and eat healthy and a lot of times that can be true. 75% of the U.S. population is overweight and we are a "super-size" culture so it really can be tough. I have been doing the thing where you half the portion served at restaurants and it's been working out pretty well so far. I still get to eat things I love and don't go around hungry....much.....

Exercise
Plan to do some Wii Fit after posting this blog entry.

Breakfast
Cooked up a pan of Fiber One banana nut muffins and had 2, they are actually pretty good. 2 cups of black coffee.

Lunch
Leftovers from last night's chili with 96% Lean ground beef. Added 8-10 fat free Saltines to a decent sized bowl. Glass of water.

Dinner
Went to Captain D's and had seasoned grilled tilapia. Ate the whole portion of fish but only half the rice and baked potato with sour cream/margarine. Side salad with fat free italian dressing. Diet Coke.

Snacks
Large Braeburn apple.

  1. Cutting portions in half is a very good idea. I have never tried that before, but maybe I will... Your food sounds healthy too. I wish that I could lose weight as fast as you seem to be! I haven't weighed myself since I started this (10 days ago), but I don't feel any skinnier yet. sigh

  2. When I go out to eat, I cut the portion in half immediately and have them take it away from the table and throw it away. Yes, I'm wasting money and wasting food by no longer taking home "doggie bags". But it's a choice I can live with. If I eat a "bad" meal, meaning too much sodium from restaurant food, etc., then I try not to do it again the next day. Keep telling myself I don't have to be a garbage disposal anymore and suck up every last morsel. I, too, love Asian food but man does the sodium kill me. I can go out for Chinese or Japanese, only eat half of it, and see a 6-7 lb sodium gain on the scale the very next morning. It drops off in a couple of days but still irritates the crap out of me, lol. Was wondering if you've found Jack Sh*t's blog yet? He's listed on my blogroll over on my blog if you want to check him out. He's brilliant, hilarious, and somewhat of a god among us here in Blogland. He's got over 700 followers and makes the journey a little more fun. He lives in Memphis. :)

  3. Hey Amelia, I always lose quickly at the beginning. When I hit around 180, the pounds start coming off a LOT slower!

  4. Hi Tammy, I don't have em' take the food back, but I will do things like ask not to have chips and salsa brought out at Mexican places. That's one of my weaknesses and I can't eat just one! I'll have check out this Jack Sh*t guy, thanks.
